SE 82nd Sidewalk Infill Project

January 26, 2010 | In: Neighborhood News

The Southwest and East Portland Sidewalk Infill Project will construct just over 2 miles of sidewalks in several segments on NE Glisan, NE and SE 82nd Ave, SW Barbur Blvd and connecting routes including SW Luradel, SW 26th Way and SW 1st Ave. This is a City of Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) project. The project will construct concrete sidewalks, driveways and corner curb ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, stormwater management facilities and small retaining walls where necessary. The project will not complete all sidewalk segments on these streets. However, it will address many gaps where there is existing curb, existing public right-of-way, simple design, and where it is feasible.

The project is on schedule:

  • In early December 2009, the City submitted 100% Final Plans for review and approval.
  • On December 29, 2009, the Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) authorized the construction phase of this ARRA project and ODOT gave Notice to Proceed with advertisement.
  • On January 11, 2010 the project was advertised for bid through the Portland Bureau of Internal Business Services, Procurement Services.
  • Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be selecting a contractor and finalizing a contract with them in March 2010.
  • PBOT staff is working with property owners to remove right-of-way encroachments.
  • Construction is expected to begin in April 2010.
